Alliance Taskforces

Environmental Justice and Health Taskforce

We are an amalgamation of environmental justice and health organizations that have come together to address the disproportionate impact of chemical exposures and hazards in communities of color and low-income populations. The taskforce has identified a set of principles and values by which ATFF participants agree to work and make decisions together and will work to articulate an environmental justice analysis of the policy priorities identified and pursued by Alliance members.

Headed by Kizzy Charles-Guzman of WE ACT for Environmental Justice, and Julien Terrell of the Environmental Justice Action Group of Western NY, taskforce members develop recommendations for a broad long-term environmental health and justice state agenda, such as pursuing a statewide environmental justice executive order or law, and incorporating this frame as ATFF develops a comprehensive chemical policy reform agenda.

We also work on shorter-term environmental health priorities related to chemical hazards that can be addressed at the state and city levels legislatively and through government policy channels as we make connections to health-affected communities of color and environmental justice communities in New York City and beyond, to strengthen and build momentum for the identified priorities of the Alliance. All are welcome to join our taskforce and work collectively with us on these goals.
