Organizations join the Alliance for a Toxic-Free Future by endorsing our platform and structure, the Safer Chemicals Charter and our values statement (Links to SCC and values statement). Organizations joining the Alliance are added to a listserv, invited to participate in taskforces and face-to-face strategy meetings.

The level of involvement in campaigns will vary from group to group based on their capacity, but all member groups must be committed to the platform, values and structure of the Alliance. Examples of member organization activities may include, but are not limited to meeting with policymakers, supporting sign-on letters, sharing and distributing educational and advocacy materials, mobilizing memberships, sending out action alerts, participating in media and other events, public speaking or providing testimony on Alliance issues.

Alliance members communicate via an internal listserv, to update one another on campaigns, reports, events and topics of general interest. There is a monthly Steering Committee conference call, in which all members are welcome to participate. The Alliance holds three annual face-to-face meetings, to set goals and agenda, plan and strategize campaigs and build our collective relationship and trust. They are held in Albany, Buffalo and New York City, in order to be as inclusive as possible.
